Dr. Michelle Emmerling, Registered Psychologist

      Professional Training and Experience

  • PhD in Counselling Psychology from a CPA Accredited Program at the University of Alberta
  • Worked in community clinic, hospital, university mental health, and private practice settings with clients of various ages and from diverse cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds, spiritual beliefs, and sexual orientations
  • Extensive training in treating eating disorders from industry leaders in the field
  • Have helped people overcome a diverse range of presenting concerns such as eating disorders, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and challenges adjusting to life transitions
  • Professional training in Emotion Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness, and Humanistic-Existential Therapy 
  • Presented at numerous international and national conferences and at community events to promote eating disorder prevention, awareness, and support and on Emotion Focused Therapy 
  • Lead and facilitated Professional Trainings in Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
  • Facilitate workshops for Parents and Loved Ones on EFFT for both eating disorders and general mental health

  • Mom to two very active young boys who keep me practicing patience, gratitude, and living in the present moment
